Mother Road Memories is not intended to be competition for any of the many fine sites catering to those interested in Route 66.
It is instead intended to be a reference to the many sources of information regarding Route 66 and those who traveled it before us.
Never before has a road captured the imagination of the masses as has Route 66 over the decades of its storied history.
No matter where one goes in the industrialized world, one can find persons that have heard of the highway known as Route 66, "The Mother Road" and "Main Street of America".
Web sites, clubs and civic organizations focused on Route 66 can be found not only in the Americas but also in Europe, Asia and points in between.
Each summer thousands of persons, some from thousands of miles away, travel Historic Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angles, searching for and finding the magic that is Route 66, a road that neither man, time or government can erase from the face of the land. For many, Route 66 is a hobby, a fascination and yes to some, even a way of life.
Our goal here is to help you find the gems of Route 66 history, lore and news buried within a remarkable volume of information currently available and to do so why having fun in the process.
